Our fitters are currently building a part-solid, part-glazed partition wall in the Holloway Road offices of Sycomore Vox UK to reconfigure an open plan space into 2 separate working areas. We’re having to build around cable trays and air conditioning conduits suspended from the ceiling (they will have to go through the new wall).
As is par for the course these days, Building Control consider this to be a “Major Project”, mainly but not exclusively because there are 5 storeys of residential flats above so this is considered to be a ‘high risk building/project’, even though all we’re doing is putting up a small non-structural partition wall on the ground floor! As a result the administrative side is far more time consuming than the physical work we’re doing, but we’re used to it and its part of the service we provide – big and small projects alike!
To date, we’ve drawn up plans, created 3D impressions of the general layout, submitted the necessary building control documentation and built the the solid section of the studwall
